Symplicity Launches SBA 8(a)/SDB Management Information System

September 10th, 2004 1:45pm EDT. Arlington, VA.

Today we celebrate the announcement of the new 8(a)/SDB Electronic Application. The application will allow firms to apply for program certification directly from the SBA web site. This user friendly system will dramatically reduce the time and cost burden for small businesses applying for 8(a) and SDB certification. The application is 100% web based, thus allowing applicants to apply without downloading any software or plug-ins. The online application incorporates features including context sensitive help, real-time validation, printer-ready versions and integrates with the Central Contractor Registry. The system also utilizes decision logic to screen applications, thus allowing SBA to review and process applications more efficiently resulting in better program management and improved customer service. The 8(a)/SDB Electronic Application was configured and deployed on a "fast track" by a current 8(a) firm, Symplicity Corporation. and the GC&BD Program Office. Symplicity's design approach included the use of its Forms solutions, SympleObjects framework, XML, web services and open source technologies including Linux, Apache, and MYSQL RDBMS for their security, reliability and low cost.
