Accessibility statement for the user experience of Symplicity CareerHub/UniHub

This accessibility statement applies to the user experience of the CareerHub/UniHub web application, which is developed by Symplicity and configured and populated with content by our clients and their constituents. We are continually improving the user experience by applying relevant accessibility standards. We are committed to:

  • ensuring that this web application achieves “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1
  • striving for this web application to achieve “Level AAA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this web application. For example, that means you should be able to:

How accessible this web application is

We know some parts of this web application are not fully accessible:

  • Appointment calendar is not fully accessible.
  • Users cannot modify the line height or spacing of text.
  • Some forms created using our dynamic form builder may be difficult to navigate using a keyboard.
  • Users are unable to bypass content that is repeated on most pages, such as headers and navigation.
  • Limited search feature throughout the application

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some pages may present semantic problems, resulting in difficulties for people using screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.1 AA 1.3.1 Info and Relationships and 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence. We are auditing the system to resolve  those issues in upcoming releases.

Some components within forms are not correctly associated with their labels, and people using screen readers may endure difficulties when interacting. This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 2.4.6: Headings and Labels and 2.5.3 Label in Name. We are auditing the system to resolve those issues in upcoming releases.

Users are unable to bypass blocks of content. This fails WCAG 2.1 A 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks. We are evaluating the impact of adding this functionality to our roadmap.

Alerts and Status Messages do not have the role=”” tag. This may cause difficulties for people using screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.1 AA 4.1.3 Status Messages. We are auditing the system and plan to adjust the markup code accordingly in upcoming releases.

There is no Site Map available. It may make the navigation for people using screen readers difficult. This fails WCAG AA 2.4.5 Multiple Ways. We are evaluating the impacts of adding such functionality.

Some resources uploaded by users may not be accessible or follow WCAG guidelines.

We have prioritized these accessibility improvements based on analytics and data. We try to make accessibility improvements a high priority. Usually, we can make accessibility improvements very quickly. Some improvements are complex and require more time for planning, development and testing.

Disproportionate burden

We are aware of accessibility issues in components such as Appointment calendar, Form builder, organization and client records, as well as journal entries.

We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues above. Future releases will replace problematic areas with newly developed software . Resolving the above issues within the current software version would be a disproportionate burden / undue burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will re-assess this at least once per calendar year.

How we tested this web application

This web application was last tested on 23 September 2020. The test was carried out by Centro Tecnologico de acessibilidade (CTA) In this test, we used critical path analysis, usage data, and our knowledge of the application architecture to determine a sample of pages to test.
