New Flexible Matching Feature Adds Robustness to Residence | Symplicity

With the upcoming update, Residence will provide even more options for setting criteria for students to be paired together during the batch assignment process. “Exact matching” allows your team to determine the most important criteria for having successful roommate matches, whereas “flexible matching” will provide your team with the ability to determine which answers should be used when pairing students together.

For example, a student who goes to bed at 10pm can be set to be paired with a student who goes to bed at 8pm or 11pm, but not a student that goes to bed at 2am. For questions that are not as important but still should be considered in the assignment process, your team can set these as a preference and the system will find the best match possible.

Don't forget about the other powerful tools available within the SympleAssign process. For instance, your team is able to set how apartments should be assigned. If the apartment is "suite style" and it's only important that the students within the rooms are a good match, you can set the system to process apartments as suites. This is best used for spaces that may only share a common bathroom and no other common space, as it will only find good roommate matches within the rooms and not across the entire apartment.

These are only a few of the robust options that SympleAssign offers, and we hope that they help you have a successful assignment season! Please reach out to our product support team for detailed instructions about how to implement these various options, like the new flexible matching feature, within Residence.
