Finding the ideal candidate for a job is not an easy task. It involves hours of searching, sourcing, and interviewing applicants to establish a professional connection. Symplicity has been nurturing relationships with universities and career centers for decades to help students search for opportunities that get them a little closer to their career goals.

In our new series, Symplicity Recruit Spotlight, we introduce you to the Recruit team and shine the spotlight on some of our most valued Symplicity Recruit team members.

In our most recent installment, we chat with Meirav Abramovitz, our Corporate Sales Director. With a long career in university recruiting, Meirav is passionate about career readiness and helping clients connects with students. This is her story.

Tell us a little bit about your work history in sales

I started my career running a university recruiting department for a financial services company, where we hired upwards of 250 students every year, for intern, co-op, and full-time positions. I actually cold-called into Symplicity to see if they would consider creating an ATS specifically for campus recruiting candidates. Once I connected with the Symplicity team, the rest was history.

What got you interested in higher education?

My passion is early careers. I love working with students on career readiness and love working with companies that hire these students. Early career hiring is not meant to be the same as experienced hiring, just with younger candidates.

What brought you to join Symplicity and look into a career in edtech?

I joined Symplicity and served as the first product manager, bringing Recruit (at the time NACElink/OneStop) to market. Once it was ready, I sold it and also served as client support. At the same time, I conducted interviews and hiring for Symplicity, eventually leaving Recruit and running HR full time.

Once we completed the sales process for Symplicity, Matt Small joined as CEO and wanted HR in the headquarters, so I went back to Recruit sales, where I've handled everything from marketing to client success to new sales.

I'm so thankful for Brad Harley's, our VP of Corporate Sales, leadership and vision. For the first time, it feels like I know exactly what my role is on the team.

What would you say are the biggest pain points for clients today?

One of the biggest pain points for clients today is how to successfully connect with the students they're seeking. With so many different platforms and tools from which to choose, all claiming to be the best, it's tough to actually understand what is working and what isn't. That's why I love our Analytics tool and the advancements we're continuing to make with it. Employers are able to easily track their efforts and results. Behind the scenes, to help employers get the results they need, we continually work to control the signal to noise ratio.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of work these days, my life is consumed by the college application process for my 17-year-old. But even without that, my favorite thing is to hang out with her, her brother, and my husband. We love traveling, good food, concerts (comedy or music), and even just going to the movies. We'll miss it next year when both kids are at college!
